Megan Gustafson shines in historic Fire vs. Mystics WNBA game

After a thrilling quadruple overtime finish between the Portland Fire and Washington Mystics on Sunday evening, how many points did former Hawkeye legend Megan Gustafson score?

Gustafson, who started her 10th game of the season on Sunday, was a force for Portland’s offense as she posted 20 points on 7 of 14 shooting and 4 of 7 from 3-point land. Gustafson added five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block in 46 minutes of action.

Although she eventually fouled out in the fourth overtime period, Gustafson’s scoring production was her highest since recording 22 points against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 30.

Entering Sunday, Gustafson was averaging 11.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game on 54.4% shooting, 39.2% from 3-point distance, and 82.4% at the charity stripe.

Gustafson and the Fire (8-12) will enjoy a full week off until their next game, which will be against the Seattle Storm on July 4 from Climate Pledge Arena at 8 p.m. CT.
