ESPN updated its 2026 recruiting class rankings, and one coveted Iowa women’s basketball target, guard Vienna Murray, had her ranking rise significantly as a result.
The 6-foot-1 native of Woodbury, Minnesota, is the No. 1 shooting guard and No. 3 player in the state of Minnesota by PrepGirlsHoops and the No. 52 player in the country by Jr. All-Star Basketball. She has the Hawkeyes in her final six with Oklahoma, Florida, Missouri, Wisconsin and Arizona State.
After ESPN’s latest update, Murray is the No. 91 overall recruit and a four-star recruit.
As a junior at East Ridge High School last season, Murray averaged an impressive 17.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.7 assists per game for a Raptors team that finished 17-9. She scored more than 20 points in eight games, including back-to-back occasions. Defensively, Murray totaled 84 steals and blocks, including nine games with five or more combined steals and blocks.
Murray took her official visit to Iowa City on Sept. 20. The Minnesota prep star is familiar with Iowa and its campus, given Murray is the cousin of Hawkeyes legend and current Las Vegas Aces center, Megan Gustafson.
With Iowa in stiff competition with the five other programs under consideration, the Hawkeyes hope their tremendous team culture and its recent commitment from McKenna Woliczko will move the needle with the talented Minnesota native.
