Iowa women's basketball officially signs forward Ella Strömdahl

After declaring her commitment to Iowa women’s basketball on May 13, incoming freshman forward Ella Strömdahl has officially signed with the Hawkeyes.

The 6-foot-tall forward from Uppsala, Sweden, is the second player in Iowa’s freshman class, joining five-star signee McKenna Woliczko. Strömdahl also arrives as the first Swedish player to sign with the Hawkeyes in program history.

“Ella is a versatile wing that we are really excited about joining our team,” head coach Jan Jensen said. “We like her ability to put it on the floor and to shoot it. Ella has a ton of potential, and we are thrilled to have her in Iowa City. Just like Bria, Ella is a great young woman that we look forward to working with.”

Last winter, she played on the RIG Lulea Swedish academy team, averaging 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Strömdahl has also competed on Sweden’s under-16 and under-18 national teams during her prep career.

Strömdahl will provide Jan Jensen’s squad with valuable depth at forward, as the Hawkeyes look to get instant production from a crew that features Journey Houston, Jocelyn Faison, and McKenna Woliczko.
