Iowa State’s do-it-all forward is officially an All-American.
Cyclones senior forward Joshua Jefferson is a first-team All-American by the Sporting News.
He is the 31st player in Iowa State men’s basketball history to earn All-American honors. There are only two other Cyclones to receive first-team All-American recognition: Gary Thompson (1957, AP first-team All-American) and Marcus Fizer (2000, AP first-team All-American).
Jefferson is averaging 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 45.7% overall and 35.1% from deep. He became the only player in Cyclones history to log multiple triple-doubles, recording two of them 18 days apart in wins over West Virginia (Jan. 2) and UCF (Jan. 20). Earlier this week, he was named to the All-Big 12 first team.
It is the third straight year that a player has earned All-American status under head coach T.J. Otzelberger. Last season, Curtis Jones was a second-team AP All-American, In the 2023-24 campaign, Tamin Lipsey was AP All-American honorable mention.
