Iowa State basketball is headed back to the Mount Rushmore State for the first time in approximately a decade.
The Cyclones are set to take on Mississippi State at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, it was announced on May 14. The game will take place on Nov. 10.
Both teams made the NCAA Tournament last season. Iowa State finished 25-10 overall and fell to Ole Miss in the second round.
Meanwhile, Mississippi State lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in a close 75-72 game to Baylor. The Bulldogs finished 21-13 overall and 8-10 in the SEC.
Mississippi State leads the all-time series against Iowa State, winning all three matchups. The Bulldogs beat Iowa State in back-to-back years in 1978 and 1979. They also won the most recent matchup in 2021 in lopsided fashion, defeating the Cyclones, 95-56, as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

It will be Iowa State’s first time at the Sanford Pentagon since the 2015-16 season-opener, when it defeated Colorado. The Cyclones also played in Sioux Falls one other time – a 102-76 victory over Augustana in 1965.
