It’s game week and that means the Hawkeyes’ 2025 season opener is now just days away against Albany. Iowa football welcomes in the Albany Great Danes on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. CT in a game that will be broadcast on FS1.
After an offseason of discussion centered on what type of impact South Dakota State transfer quarterback Mark Gronowksi will have on the Hawkeyes’ offense, fans will finally get their first glimpse at some of those answers on Saturday.
Iowa fans got a first look of sorts at the Hawkeyes on Monday. For the first time since the start of the spring, Iowa football unveiled an updated depth chart.
There weren’t a ton of surprises, though junior receiver Sam Phillips listed ahead of sophomore Reece Vander Zee would certainly fit that distinction.
Take a look at the full Iowa depth chart vs. Albany:
Offensively, some of the other notable developments include junior Jack Dotzler and sophomore Trevor Lauck both listed atop the depth chart at left tackle, freshman Lucas Allgeyer making the two-deep and sophomores Kamari Moulton and Terrell Washington Jr. both listed as starters at running back.
Defensively, sophomore Bryce Hawthorne listed as a starting defensive tackle, sophomore Zach Lutmer earning the nod at Cash, senior Karson Sharar and graduate Jaden Harrell starting at linebacker and senior TJ Hall and junior Deshaun Lee earning the starting jobs at cornerback are among the top storylines.
