Things are changing in Iowa City, Iowa. The Iowa Hawkeyes have an identity and a scheme on offense that has improved each of the last two years under offensive coordinator Tim Lester.
Since joining Iowa, Lester has dragged the Hawkeyes’ offense from the doldrums into an above-average unit that can win games on its own if needed. Iowa took a massive step forward this past season with Mark Gronowski under center, which has opened the eyes of recruits considering Iowa as a destination.
The latest recruiting development for the Hawkeyes is big. Steve Wiltfong of Rivals has named Iowa the front-runner to land Jake Nawrot, a highly touted quarterback prospect in the class of 2027.
The Iowa Hawkeyes offered Jake Nawrot in January and appear to be hot on the trail with strong efforts to get a commitment from the Hersey High School standout in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Per the Rivals industry rankings, Nawrot checks in as a four-star recruit in the class of 2027. He carries offers from Iowa, Boston College, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Washington, Wisconsin, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.
More of a traditional passer, Nawrot threw for 3,078 yards during his 2025 high school season while completing 71% (187-263) of his passes for 41 touchdowns to only two interceptions.
