Indiana Fever injury report: Caitlin Clark status vs. New York Liberty

After fighting through what appeared to be a stomach bug during Indiana’s (5-4) 83-71 win over the Atlanta Dream (6-3) on Thursday night, the Fever announced the former Hawkeyes’ status for its Saturday night clash against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Indiana lists Clark as probable against the Liberty with a back ailment on its day-before injury report. This has become the common injury designation by the Fever for the two-time WNBA All-Star this season as she continues to receive treatment for ongoing back soreness.

In Thursday night’s victory, Clark had a solid all-around performance, scoring 17 points and contributing eight assists, seven rebounds, and one block in 31 minutes of play.

Fortunately for Indiana, Clark’s stomach bug and her back do not appear serious enough to limit Clark’s ability to play on Saturday in the Fever’s second WNBA Commissioner’s Cup game.

The Liberty are winners of three straight games, but have been without star guard Sabrina Ionescu, who has battled various injuries to open the WNBA season. Ionescu was sidelined for New York’s 97-82 win over the Toronto Tempo on Wednesday, and her status remains uncertain for the matchup with Indiana on Saturday.

The Fever and Liberty are scheduled for a 7 p.m. CT tipoff, and the game will be nationally broadcast on CBS.
