Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based Halberstadt’s sells contemporary and luxury men’s wear, with additional locations in Sioux Falls and St. Cloud, Minnesota. The company did not respond to a request for comment.

In addition to its Jordan Creek Town Center store, Halberstadt’s has a store at Jordan Creek Point, a shopping center in an out lot just north of Scheels’ Jordan Creek store.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Valley West was central Iowa’s most popular mall. But since Jordan Creek opened in 2004 Valley West has seen many of its tenants close or leave for Jordan Creek. U.S. Bank foreclosed on a $42 million loan to the complex’s then-owner, Watson Centers of Minneapolis, in 2022.

The mall continues to operate while commercial real estate brokerage CBRE seeks a buyer for it, but other marquee retailers, including Victoria’s Secret, PINK and Maurices. also have closed locations there in the last year. JCPenney is its sole remaining anchor store.
