A fatal drowning at the Coralville Aquatics Center is under investigation, Coralville Police say.
Coralville PD responded to a report of a drowning shortly after 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 7. Officers began rendering lifesaving aid on arrival, according to a news release from the Coralville police. They were assisted by Coralville Aquatic Center lifeguards and the Johnson County Ambulance Service.
The swimmer was later transported to a University of Iowa Health Care hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
No details of the person’s identity, age, or what led to the drowning have been made available.
