Des Moines saw 2.38 inches of rain 12 a.m. and noon on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet.
Just to the north, Ankeny recorded 1.38 inches of rain and Ames reported 0.9 inches

Rain fell most heavily between about 5 and 8 a.m. Thursday, soaking much of western and central Iowa before the heaviest showers shifted southeast later in the morning.
