A car accident in Boone left one person dead and another injured.
Tristan Nelson, 37, of Ames, was a passenger in a 2022 Jeep Compass when it collided with a 2020 KW Semi around 2 p.m., on Monday, June 15, in the 2100 block of 190th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bailey Craven, 34, of Des Moines, was driving the Jeep Compass when the collision happened. Craven was life-flighted to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
Craven was driving westbound on 190th Street while Wyatt Corbin, 26, of Boone, was headed eastbound in a semi. Craven entered the oncoming lane in the semi’s path and struck it head-on, according to the crash report.
The Jeep Compass came to rest in the south ditch on its driver’s side while the semi was “jack-knifed” in the roadway, blocking both lanes.
The Iowa State Patrol did not note any injuries for Corbin.
