Despite Iowa women’s basketball being among her final four schools, 2027 four-star guard Mya Wilson announced her commitment to Ohio State on Monday morning. She chose the Buckeyes over Iowa, TCU and Minnesota.
The 6-foot-1 guard from Hill-Murray School in Maplewood, Minnesota, is the nation’s No. 44 player overall, the No. 4 combo guard and the No. 1 player in Minnesota, per Rivals. The 247Sports composite lists the Minnesotan as a five-star, the No. 44 player nationally, the No. 11 small forward and the No. 1 player in Minnesota.
Wilson is a blue-chip prospect in ESPN’s 2027 rankings: She is the nation’s No. 88 player.
While Wilson took an official visit to Iowa in mid-June, the Buckeyes were the final stop of her official visit tour and made the ultimate impression.
Missing on Wilson to a fellow Big Ten foe stings, but Iowa is still in position to secure commitments from other highly rated 2027 targets, including forwards Nation Williams, Sienna Williams, and Destiny Manyawu, center Khalia Hartwell and guard Santana Sabus.
As it stands, four-star combo guard commit Jada Seubert is the only commitment to the Hawkeyes’ 2027 class.
