What's Cooking: Community Meals This Week

• Thursday Burger Night, 4 to 8 p.m. May 28, Galien American Legion Post 344, 402 N. Cleveland Ave., Galien. Burgers, hot dog, shrimp, chicken strips, or sloppy joe baskets. Cost: $9 to $5. Baskets include fries and slaw. The menu may vary except for hamburgers.

• Homemade Chicken Noodle Dinner, 3 to 7 p.m. May 29, Lakeville Masonic Lodge & Eastern Star, 318 N. Mangus Drive, Lakeville. Chicken and noodles, potatoes, dessert, drink, all you can eat salad bar. Cost: adults/drive-thru carryout, $15; children (ages 7 to 12), $10; children (ages 6 and younger), free. No salad bar with carryout. Building is handicap accessible.

• Fish, Chicken or Shrimp Fry, 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 29, Ryan A. Balmer American Legion Post 161, 133 E. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, 574-255-8319. Cost: varies. Dine-in or carryout.

• Kitchen Open, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 29 and 8 to 11 a.m. May 31, American Legion Pulaski Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St., South Bend, 574-234-5073. Fried fish plus full menu on Fridays. Cost: varies. Dine-in or carryout.

• Munchie Mondays, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., June 1, Food Truck Alley on Days Avenue, Buchanan. Enjoy a variety of food every Monday through Aug. 31.

• Fish Fry, 5 to 7 p.m. June 5, Knights of Columbus, 61533 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, 574-291-2740. All you can eat. Dinners include baked potato or French fries, coleslaw, applesauce. Cost: adults, $15; children (ages 5 to 13), $7; children (ages 4 and younger), free. Chicken nugget and shrimp dinners available. Dining room seating and carryout available.

• Food Truck Friday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 5, Ball Band Biergarten, 230 Ironworks Ave., Mishawaka. Variety of food vendors. Eat in the park or have dinner to go. Prices vary per food truck.

• Pancake & Biscuit Breakfast, 8 to 11 a.m. June 6, Galien American Legion Post 344, 402 N. Cleveland Ave., Galien. Cost: Pancakes/sausage/drink, $8; include scrambled eggs, $10; biscuit/gravy/drink, $4; Combo meals of 2 biscuits/gravy/sausages/scrambled eggs/drink, $6-$8; add hash browns to any meal for $2. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. watch our annual lawnmower pull with food available during the pull. Bring your own chair.
