WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — Greyhouse Coffee workers on Northwestern Avenue noticed a discrepancy in its bank accounts Friday and figured out that they’d been hacked, according to West Lafayette police.
Someone in the organization clicked on a phishing scan email, opening the shop’s computers to the scammers, according to police.
The loss is estimated at several thousand dollars, according to the initial police reports.
The police bulletins indicate the scam is believed to have started between July 2 and Friday, July 25.
A detective has been assigned to work the case, police said.
