You’ve heard of speed-dating, but how about speed-friending?
The activities are functionally identical — rapid get-to-know-you conversations with the help of ice-breaker questions — but distinct in their purposes. Speed-friending, as around 50 Indianapolis residents found out June 20 at Garfield Park, isn’t so much about gauging romantic potential as it is about connecting with someone new.
Speed-friending was the star of the Indianapolis Super Picnic, a meetup event at Garfield Park from social organization Find Fun Indy. IndyStar stopped by the event, which also included a scavenger hunt across the Garfield Park Farmers Market, to see the method in action.
