Wapahani's Gabe Lappin voted IU Health Athlete of the Week for May 4-9

Wapahani baseball player Gabe Lappin has been voted The Star Press East Central Indiana high school Athlete of the Week for May 4-9, brought to you by IU Health.

Lappin logged a hit in all three games as Wapahani went 3-0 last week with wins over Hagerstown, Delta and Winchester. He went 3-for-9 at the plate through those three games and totaled seven RBIs.

Lappin received 6,365 out of 15,991 votes cast (39.8%). This week’s runner-up was Cowan baseball player Thomas Brooks, who gathered 4,214 votes (26.35%).

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated and can be named Athlete of the Week only once per season, per sport. Athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks. This is Wapahani’s second consecutive winner.
