VOTE: IU Health Herald-Times Football Player of the Week for Sept. 19

Welcome to the IU Health Herald-Times Football Player of the Week poll for games on Sept. 19.

Congratulations to last week’s winner, Edgewood defensive lineman Landon Beauchamp, who received 51.9% of the vote (13,013) to top teammate Eli Lerot (41.4%) as Mustang fans accounted for more than half of the 25,000 votes cast.

Let’s see who get busy this week to support their favorite athletes. Readers can vote as much as they like until the poll ends on Thursday (Sept. 25) at noon. Here are this week’s nominees:

Shaun Cooper, South, RB

With starter Braylen Townsend injured, the senior had a career night, carrying the ball 35 times for 241 yards and five touchdowns as the Panthers hammered Terre Haute South, 49-14.

Eli Engleking, Eastern Greene RB

Led the T-Birds on offense in a tough 14-12 loss to Eastern (Pekin) gaining 106 yards on the ground on 14 carries, scoring a TD, and caught five passes for 22 yards.

Rashon English, North WR

Junior caught four passes for 102 yards, with a long of 49, and two touchdowns in a 56-0 win over Terre Haute North.

Noah Ferree, North LB/RB

Big day for the senior on both sides of the ball for the Cougars in a 56-0 rout of Terre Haute North, leading the defense with seven tackles and a sack and rushing the ball twice for a pair of touchdowns.

Rowan Heitink, Edgewood LB

Led the Mustangs to another shutout with 11 tackles, including four solos and two for loss, in a 35-0 win over West Vigo.

Luke McNeal, Eastern Greene LB

Tied for the team high in tackles with nine and caused two fumbles, one of which was returned for a score in a 14-12 loss to Eastern (Pekin). Also rushed for 19 yards.

Ian Quick, South, LB

Was all over the place in a 49-14 win over Terre Haute South, collecting 10 tackles, including three for loss and a sack as the Panthers held the Braves to just 135 yards.

Dylan Wickens, Edgewood WR/LB

Junior caught two passes for 43 yards, both going for touchdowns, and had six tackles, one for loss and a quarterback hurry in the Mustangs’ 35-0 win at West Vigo.
