Two unhoused men found dead inside tent in Bloomington woods

Bloomington police are investigating the deaths of two 56-year-old men whose decomposing bodies were discovered April 20 inside a tent in a wooded area behind a house on East Miller Drive.

A woman who lives in a nearby residence called 911 t 6:45 p.m. to report finding two bodies when she and a relative of one of the men who lives in the tent went to check on him.

The tent was in a remote encampment area down a path and a steep embankment, according to a Bloomington Police Department officer’s report that said the two men lived there.

Autopsies will confirm their identities and determine when and how the men died. Capt. Ryan Pedigo said the bodies showed no visible signs of trauma.

Police reported finding evidence of illegal drug use at the scene. Toxicology testing, which takes weeks, will determine if drugs were related to the deaths.
