These Evansville area athletes advanced from the 2026 IHSAA wrestling regional

EVANSVILLE — The Indiana high school boys wrestling postseason continued its march to Indianapolis.

The second stage commenced with IHSAA regionals across the state on Saturday, Jan. 7. Those in Southwestern Indiana were interested in the results at Castle and Bloomington South ― the top four place winners in each weight class advanced to the semi-state.

That round is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 in downtown Evansville at Ford Center.

Mater Dei won its 16th straight regional championship with 249 team points at Castle. The Wildcats had six individual champions — Spenser McCammon (106), Wyatt Ulrey (126), Caleb Schaefer (132), Grant Voelker (150), Camden Baumann (165) and Caden Thacker (215) — and 13 advancing to the semi-state. Heritage Hills finished second with seven individuals advancing.

The other Southwestern Indiana champions at Castle were Kolten Land (Vincennes Lincoln), Max Stevens (Gibson Southern), Eli Hedges (Heritage Hills), Michael Roesch (Harrison), Deacon Dressler (Gibson Southern), Tyson Barrow (North Posey), Sam Howard (Boonville) and Hayden Smith (Heritage Hills).

Jasper’s Nolan Mullins and Southridge’s Owen Blessinger were the only individual champions, at 126 and 132 pounds repsectively, from the Evansville area in the Bloomington South Regional. Jasper had the best team finish at fifth with seven individuals advancing to Ford Center.

Team scores: Mater Dei 249, Heritage Hills 102, Gibson Southern 66, Boonville 63.5, Castle 50, North Posey 47.5, Mount Vernon 40, Vincennes Lincoln 36.5, Memorial 33, Tecumseh 25, Princeton 25, Harrison 19, South Spencer 18.5, Washington 13, North 12.5, Central 9.

Who advanced from the Bloomington South Regional

Team scores: Bloomington South 199.5, Floyd Central 101.5, Terre Haute South 91, Owen Valley 84, Jasper 77.5, New Albany 43, Edgewood 42, Bloomington North 40, Southridge 31, Terre Haute North 29, Tell City 24.5, Northview 22, Sullivan 8.
