Bloomington South senior Harper Eakin was the only local athlete to make it through the preliminaries and wound up 14th in the finals of the 500 freestyle in 5:07.06, just a hair quicker than her prelim (5:07.14). She was 20th as a freshman and 12th the past two years.

All eight swimmers in the A Final are from Zionsville, Carmel and Fishers, who went 5:00.90 or faster.

The Mustangs’ first state swimmer in 17 years took 24th in the 50 freestyle in 24.57 and wound up 28th in the 100 butterfly (59.37). It took a 23.77 and a 56.30, respectively, to make the finals in her events.

South’s 400 free relay finished up the meet in 22nd as Mia Bishop, Leona Wang and Eakin all split 55 and Emily Wang finished up in 53.56 for a season best 3:40.45. It took a 3:38.63 to make the B Final.
