Snowfall is concluding, but more snow and sub-zero temperatures are coming

Hoosiers, it’s cold outside and it’s only going to get colder, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

While the snowfall is wrapping up this morning, temperatures will continue to drop as we move into the weekend, with sub-zero temperatures in the forecast and more snow on the way.

How much snow did we get?

According to NWS Indianapolis, Indianapolis got 2.1 inches of snowfall.

When will the snow stop?

In Indianapolis, the first round of snowfall has already concluded. We could see some more snow flurries later this morning, but it is not expected to contribute much to our snowfall totals.

We are expected to get more snow on Saturday, Dec. 13, but not until the afternoon.

Here’s the updated weather forecast from NWS Indianapolis as of 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 for the next seven days:

Friday: A chance of flurries between 10 and 11 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 34. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.

Friday night: Cloudy, with a low around 21. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the evening.

Saturday: Snow, mainly after noon. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to near 25 by noon, then falling to around 19 during the remainder of the day. West northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Saturday night: A 40% chance of snow before 1 a.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around -1. Wind chill values as low as -13. Northwest wind around 8 mph.

Sunday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 10. West northwest wind around 8 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around -3. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 23. Light south southwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. South southwest wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.

Wednesday night: A 50% of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Thursday: A 50% chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51.
