MUNCIE, IN — A rural Marion man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a barn in northwestern Delaware County.
Dale Eugene Bosworth Jr., 34, was being held without bond in the Delaware County Jail on Tuesday, June 2, on suspicion of rape, obstruction of justice and false informing.
According to court documents, Bosworth and a woman identified as his wife on May 24 responded to a Facebook posting by an 18-year-old woman who indicated she was homeless and needed assistance.
According to Grant County sheriff’s deputies, the couple picked up the young woman at a convenience store in Kokomo and drove her to their home in Grant County.
The following day, the teen told investigators, Dale Bosworth asked her to accompany him to do work at a property in the 18100 block of North Delaware County Road 700 West.
At that location, she said, Bosworth sexually assaulted her.
She sent a message to Grant County deputies using an online app, and they pulled over Bosworth’s pickup truck, reportedly as he was returning to his home with the teenager.
While being questioned by deputies in Marion, Bosworth at first denied the woman’s claims but later acknowledged they had engaged in sexual activity, which he said was consensual.
According to Grant County court records, Bosworth has been convicted of intimidation and possession of marijuana.
