RICHMOND, IN — A Richmond man is accused of entering his sister’s apartment, then grabbing her by the face and shoving her.
Charles Edward Potters, 39, is accused of then confronting a man in the same apartment, striking him in the face and biting his right shoulder.
Potters was charged on Tuesday, March 31, in Wayne Superior Court 3 with domestic battery, a Level 6 felony carrying up to 30 months in prison, and battery resulting in bodily injury.
The incident allegedly occurred in an apartment along South A Street on the evening of March 16.
His sister said Potters — who is apparently also her neighbor — had been drinking alcoholic beverages, and she had earlier declined to allow him to enter her home.
His male accuser said Potters fled from the apartment after biting him.
A Richmond police officer said that man had a “cracked lip,” consistent with being struck in the mouth, and what appeared to be a “human bite mark,” with “visible indentations and dried blood.”
The male accuser declined medical treatment at the scene.
An initial hearing in the Superior Court 3 case is set for April 15.
On June 22, Potters is set to stand trial in Wayne Superior Court 1 on a count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon filed against him on March 2.
According to court records, the Richmond man has been convicted of battery resulting in bodily injury, conversion, disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
