The Indianapolis Colts worked out veteran wide receiver Chase Claypool during Thursday’s training camp practice, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Claypool, 28, was a second-round pick by the Steelers in 2020 out of Notre Dame. During his first two seasons, he totaled over 1,800 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
In Year 3, he was traded to Chicago, totaling a modest 451 yards that season. In 2023, he was traded to Miami, totaling 77 yards over 12 games.
Claypool hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game the past two seasons.
Garafolo adds that the Colts won’t be signing Claypool on Thursday, but he “could be in play” in the “near future.”
While Alec Pierce and Josh Downs are at the top of the depth chart, the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth spots on the receiver depth chart for the Colts remain very much up for grabs.
