Myles Colvin left Purdue basketball looking for a greater role, and boy did he deliver for his new school Friday night.
Colvin, an Indianapolis native who played at Heritage Christian, hit a game-winning corner 3-pointer after a long heave into the frontcourt as his Wake Forest team beat Memphis 69-68. The Demon Deacons (4-2) had 1.5 seconds for a desperation play, and Colvin delivered the final blow.
It was a big win in the Baha Mar Championships consolation game. The Demon Deacons have an overtime loss to Michigan on a neutral court, and lost 84-83 to No. 15 Texas Tech on Thursday night.
Colvin’s shot was breakthrough for Wake Forest, though. It gives a sense of belief.
Colvin came off the bench for all but eight of his 67 career games with the Boilermakers. He averaged 5.4 points per game last season.
This season, Colvin is averaging 11 points and 4.2 rebounds in 27 minutes per game, still coming off the bench, for Wake Forest.
