MUNCIE, IN — A Muncie man is accused of ingesting cocaine before causing a July crash that injured two other people.
Sean Lee Craver Jr., 37, was charged in Delaware Circuit Court 1 on Nov. 14 with causing serious bodily injury while driving with a controlled substance in his system, a Level 5 felony carrying up to six years in prison.
Craver was also charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
According to court documents, the Muncie man was driving a Chevrolet Impala on Nebo Road about 11:30 a.m. on July 29 when he struck the rear of a northbound tractor.
The 58-year-old operator of the tractor was treated at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for injuries to his neck, left shoulder, abdomen and left hip.
Yorktown police said a 56-year-old passenger in Craver’s car suffered head and facial injuries, as did Craver, who declined to be treated at the hospital.
Craver reportedly told officers he was driving northbound on Nebo when he “fell asleep while driving his vehicle.”
He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. According to an affidavit, lab tests showed the Muncie man had cocaine in his system at the time of the crash.
An initial hearing in his case is set for Dec. 29.
According to court records, he has been convicted of crimes including operating a motorboat while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, armed robbery and battery.
