It was a historic effort for the Notre Dame defense on Saturday afternoon against Boston College, as it tied a program record set in 1977.
The Irish picked off three passes in the game, and adding on to the eight from the previous three, according to Notre Dame football’s official press release team, tied a four-game stretch in 1977 with 12 interceptions. It’s been a group effort, as multiple players have picks during that stretch.
If you would have told me that this defense would be tying program records after the first three games of the year, I would have thought they would have been bad ones. It’s a testament to the players and coaches figuring out a way to correct some issues that plagued the team in the first few games.
Congratulations to the Notre Dame defense for tying a record that is over 50-years old.
