Notre Dame football loses center Ashton Craig to apparent leg injury vs. NC State

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football center Ashton Craig was lost to an apparent left leg injury suffered near the end of the third quarter of Saturday’s game against N.C. State.

Craig, a fourth-year junior, hobbled off the field with the Irish training staff by his side after CJ Carr’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Will Pauling gave Notre Dame a 24-7 lead with 2:46 left in the third period.

Third-year sophomore Joe Otting replaced Craig on the next offensive series.

Craig, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound product of Lawrenceburg, Ind., missed the final 13 games last season after suffering a torn left ACL in Game 3 against Purdue. Craig took over the starting role late in the 2023 season after predecessor Zeke Correll suffered a concussion at Clemson.
