Rosenqvist passes David Malukas on the last straightaway and gets to the line 0.0233 seconds ahead. Scott McLaughlin takes 3rd. Four drivers finish with 1 second of Rosenqvist.
The previous closest finish came in 1992, when Al Unser Jr. edged Scott Goodyear by 0.043 seconds.
The wild finish comes after a late red flag and a later caution that left 1 lap of all-out racing. Malukas passed Marcus Armstrong at the restart of Lap 200 and held the lead until the last instant.
The race had a record 70 passes for the lead, breaking the mark of 68 when Tony Kanaan won in 2013.

Alexander Rossi has no restrictions for Indy 500
Alexander Rossi, the 2016 Indy 500 winner, crashed hard in practice on Monday, May 18, suffering injuries to his right foot and left hand. He had procedures to repair damage and wore a walking boot and soft cast on his hand for a few days.
When asked by Fox Sports if he had restrictions while in the car, he said: “There is none.”
Indy 500 race teams will honor NASCAR star Kyle Busch during the race
NASCAR star Kyle Busch died last week at age 41 of sepsis resulting from pneumonia. He won a Craftsman Trucks race just nine days earlier. He raced in No. 18 for most of his career and No. 8 this year. The teams using those numbers in the Indy 500 (Kyffin Simpson is No. 8, Romain Grosjean No. 18) will honor Busch.
IMS also will honor Busch on the scoring pylon on Lap 18.
Ahead of the race, veteran NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson, Danica Patrick, and Tony Stewart took time to remember Kyle Busch live on Fox from IMS.
