“The moment I realized I wouldn’t be putting on the horseshoe again it was a lot to comprehend,” Moore began. “Something I had to mentally fight myself about before I knew it was time to talk about it.”

Moore continued, “Thank you to the Irsay family, I’ve admired how you represent yourselves and each other … Thank you to the Lucas family, your unwavering support over the years will never go unnoticed.”

“Thank you to my Colts family, way too many of you to name. An organization filled with some of the greatest people I’m lucky I got to know you on a human basis. I’m never too far away.”

“To my teammates.. man, I love ya’ll more than you understand. The camaraderie of the game is my favorite part, hands down. Outside of getting a W together, my favorite memories are the ones where we couldn’t stop laughing.”

Moore concluded with a message to Colts’ fans, “The support was real. The support was felt. You appreciated the player I was but you respected me as a person first, you saw my heart through the community. I can’t say thank you enough for embracing not just me but my family as well!!!!!!”

Moore requested a trade prior to the NFL draft, but with the Colts unable to find a trade partner, the team released him. Moore now has the opportunity to catch on with a new team prior to training camp.

“I had a talk with Kenny,” GM Chris Ballard said before the NFL draft, “think very highly of Kenny, not only me personally, but organizationally, and I know the city feels the same way. Look, at the end of the day, talking to him, he just felt like it was time for a change. Nothing much more than that and because of our respect level for Kenny, we said okay.”

Moore was set to enter the final year of his deal with the Colts. As ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported, Moore’s trade request was “partly a scheme fit issue.”

Moore spent nine seasons with the Colts. He is a one-time Pro Bowler, and for his career, Moore has allowed 10.0 yards per catch with 22 interceptions and 38 pass breakups.
