LAFAYETTE, IN — Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette with NAMI West Central Indiana will host “Hope & Healing: Suicide Prevention & Growth Beyond Grief” on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
At 6 p.m. in the Ivy Hall Auditorium on the Lafayette campus, the free event invites the public to hear from mental health professionals about suicide prevention strategies and how individuals can find strength and growth through grief, according to a news release.
The evening will include remarks from:
NAMI West Central Indiana is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and provides support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. The organization works to raise awareness and build a community of hope for all those in need, offering free programs and support groups throughout Benton, Carroll, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White counties.
“This event is about creating space for honest conversations around suicide and equipping our community with tools for healing and hope,” Stephanie Smith, director of mental health and disability support services at Ivy Tech Lafayette, said in the release. “We’re grateful to partner with NAMI West Central Indiana to bring this important discussion to our campus.”
Guests are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early to find their seats. Free parking is available in lots B and C, with entry through Door 4 of Ivy Hall.
