The Indiana Department of Transportation announced it would be closing two southbound lanes on I-465 between Fall Creek Road and I-70 to allow construction crews to install permanent pavement markings.
INDOT expects lanes to close at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 16, and reopen at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19.
INDOT also announced it will restrict traffic on I-465 on the west side of Indianapolis between I-70 and I-74 at night to install pavement markings.
The department reduced I-465 northbound to two lanes on May 14. It will remain reduced from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. May 16.
Between May 17-21, the department will reduce I-465 northbound to one lane between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
INDOT launches speed control program
Since May 5, the state has been enforcing its worksite speed control pilot program along the Clear Path I-465/I-69 construction zone.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that the owners of vehicles caught traveling 11 mph over the posted speed limit in specified work zones will receive a citation in the mail.
“It’s crucial for drivers to slow down in work zones,” said Lyndsay Quist, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation, in a news release in April. “Speeding in work zones puts construction crews, drivers, and their passengers at risk of injury or even death.”
