Indianapolis Colts cut tracker: Who's in, who's out at roster deadline

The Indianapolis Colts and the rest of the NFL must have their 53-man rosters set by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday.

Before any roster news broke, we made our final roster prediction for the Colts and also discussed which projected releases were the most difficult to make.

Prior to rosters being finalized, many of the roster cuts will be reported, and we will be tracking and providing insight to every move right here at Colts Wire.

One of the first moves made was the Colts moving on from one of their preseason standouts at the cornerback position.

Be sure to check back in regularly to stay up to date with each roster move made by the Colts.

Here’s a list of every Colts roster cut and move

S Ladarius Tennison waived

Listed as a safety, most of Tennison’s snaps came lined up in the slot this preseason. However, in terms of playing time, he was behind Chris Lammons as a backup option to Kenny Moore, and the Colts just traded for Mekhi Blackmon, who can fill that role.

WR Ajou Ajou waived

Ajou was signed early this offseason after spending time in the CFL. He caught 4-of-7 preseason passes for 27 yards. Wide receiver is a very deep position group for the Colts.

DE Isaiah Land waived

Land was dominant this preseason, but the numbers game likely led to his release. As potentially the sixth member of the defensive end unit, there likely wasn’t much playing time for Land, which meant he may have often been inactive this season.

DE Durell Nchami waived

With the starters at defensive end seeing little playing time this preseason, Nchami got a lot of early reps in games and often looked the part, particularly as a pass rusher. In 41 pass rush snaps, he generated five pressures.

TE Sean McKeon waived

McKeon spent last season on the Colts’ practice squad. He has special teams experience in his career and has mostly been utilized as a blocker at tight end, which is a role the Colts already have filled between Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree. Tyler Warren will get plenty of snaps in that capacity as well.

DE Marcus Haynes waived

Haynes was signed on August 13th, adding to the defensive end depth while Samson Ebukam worked through a back injury. In 19 pass rush snaps, Haynes generated one sack and two pressures.

WR Landon Parker waived

Another undrafted signee after this past April’s draft, Parker played 40 offensive snaps over the three preseason games, catching two passes for six yards. Parker ran a 4.40-second 40 during the pre-draft process.

S Trey Washington waived

A UDFA signing, Joel Erickson mentioned Washington as a “likely” practice squad target if he clears waivers. Once Hunter Wohler was placed on IR, Daniel Scott seemingly took control of the fourth safety role on the roster.

CB Chris Lammons released

Lammons did about everything he could to make the roster. In three preseason games, he allowed three completions on nine targets, giving up 39 yards. He also forced three pass breakups and has special teams experience. However, Lammons is now in a very crowded cornerback room, and my guess is that getting him to the practice squad is more likely than some of the other younger cornerbacks.

OT Marcellus Johnson waived

Johnson was a late addition, signed after the first preseason game to provide some training camp depth. Arriving late in the process, there likely wasn’t enough time for Johnson to make a real roster push.

WR Coleman Owen waived

Owen was a very reliable slot target during the preseason and also contributed on special teams as a return man. He is a prime practice squad candidate.

C Wesley French waived

The Colts have depth along the interior. Danny Pinter is the backup at center and could play guard. Dalton Tucker is a backup guard option who saw some snaps at center in the third preseason game. French may have also been behind Josh Sills in the pecking order.

LB Jaylon Carlies placed on IR designated to return

Each team can place two players on IR and designate them to return. Carlies has to miss a minimum of the first four games this season. Offseason shoulder surgery kept Carlies off the field during OTAs and minicamp, while an ankle injury forced him to miss most of training camp.

TE Jelani Woods waived

Woods has navigated injuries the last two seasons. This summer, he was healthy, but Will Mallory provided the steadier presence throughout training camp, likely securing the fourth spot on the depth chart and filling that pass-catching-first role on the Colts’ 53-man roster.

LB Austin Ajiake waived

I had Ajiake on my final roster prediction. As the Colts navigated early injuries at linebacker, Ajiake got a lot of opportunities in practice. He also started in the preseason games, while Lou Anarumo mentioned him by name recently when discussing the linebacker rotation. My guess is that in Anarumo’s defensive back-heavy scheme, releasing Ajiake means the Colts keep just four linebackers–but we will have to wait and see.

WR Blayne Taylor waived

Taylor signed with the Colts as a UDFA out of Abilene Christian. He had three targets this preseason, catching one of those passes for 12 yards. He played eight special teams snaps as well.

TE Maximilian Mang waived

Mang was signed as a UDFA out of Syracuse after the 2025 NFL draft. He was designated the Colts’ International Pathway Player. The Indy Star’s Joel Erickson reported that Mang is expected to be back on the Colts’ practice squad. As a designated IPP, the Colts can carry 17 practice squad players instead of the usual 16, with Mang on an exemption.

RB Nate Noel waived

Noel was signed just a few weeks ago, adding to the running back depth after Salvon Ahmed was injured. Noel carried the ball seven times vs. Cincinnati for 63 yards.

DE Desmond Little waived

Little played 67 preseason snaps, totaling two pressures, a sack, and six total tackles. In a talented defensive end room, Little was a long shot to make the final roster.

CB Alex Johnson waived

Johnson was one of the standout performers this preseason for the Colts, which included coming away with an interception and two pass breakups in coverage. Ultimately, with Jaylon Jones and JuJu Brents returning from health, along with the Colts signing Xavien Howard, the cornerback room became crowded quickly. Johnathan Edwards, Chris Lammons, and Samuel Womack are competing for a roster spot as well.

DT Devonta Davis waived

Davis was signed after the 2025 draft as a UDFA. He logged three tackles and a pressure in the preseason. Adetomiwa Adebawore and perhaps one of Tim Smith or Eric Johnson will make up the back end of the defensive tackle room.

LB Solomon DeShields waived

Another 2025 UDFA signing by the Colts. The linebacker position had its unknowns coming into camp when it came to who would be starting next to Zaire Franklin, but the Colts had several candidates for that role, including Joe Bachie, and Jaylon Carlies, while Cameron McGrone, Austin Ajiake, and Segun Olubi can help on special teams.

LB Joseph Vaughn waived

Vaughn was a very late addition, signing with the Colts following the second preseason game after Hunter Wohler and Jacob Phillips were placed on IR. He made the most of his opportunity in Week 3 of the preseason, posting a PFF grade of 90.6.
