Indianapolis Colts bring in veteran linebacker for a visit

The Indianapolis Colts worked out another linebacker on Thursday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts had former Cardinals linebacker Kyzir White in for a visit.

Along with White, linebacker Anthony Walker and cornerback Mike Hilton are two other players who have been in for workouts recently.

White was a fourth-round pick by the LA Chargers in 2018. After four seasons in LA, he played one season in Philadelphia and the last two in Arizona. White is an experienced player, having appeared in 92 career games with 73 starts.

White has been a very sound tackler over his career and found success last season as a blitzer, generating 21 pressures, according to PFF. In coverage, he had one interception and one pass breakup, while allowing 12.0 yards per catch.

The Colts recently claimed Chad Muma on waivers, adding to their linebacker position. However, this is a unit that still has its unknowns.

Joe Bachie, who impressed this summer and knows Lou Anarumo’s defense well after playing in Cincinnati, will presumably be starting next to Zaire Franklin. However, this is still a relatively inexperienced group outside of Franklin.

Muma has 725 career defensive snaps over three seasons, Bachie has played 238, Segun Olubi 136, and Cameron McGrone nine.

The Colts having these players in for workouts doesn’t necessarily mean a signing is imminent. As GM Chris Ballard described on Wednesday, the Colts are going to have players in over the next month to help compile a list of potential additions if they find themselves in a pinch during the season.

“We’re going to explore guys right now,” Ballard said on Wednesday. “We’re going to explore vets. You’re going to see over the next 10 days. You’re going to see it over the next month, we’re going to bring guys in. That’s what we do. We’re going to kick the tires, make sure we have a list of guys that if we have to go to, we can go to them.”
