Indiana basketball's Josh Harris entering transfer portal

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball guard Josh Harris plans to enter the transfer portal, per multiple reports. He’s the third IU overall player planning on entering the portal, joining Jason Drake and Jasai Miles.

The Hoosiers were already facing the prospect of a significant rebuild with six players (four starters) graduating and just three incoming freshmen. The transfer window for Division 1 basketball this year will be a 15-day period running from April 7-21.

Harris’ 2025-26 never got off the ground.

The only games the sophomore played for the Hoosiers came during their preseason foreign tour in Puerto Rico. He suffered a lower-body injury in September and remained on the injury report the rest season.

The last update Indiana coach Darian DeVries gave on Harris was that he was “progressing” toward making a return at the end of November. Harris was expected to provide IU with frontcourt depth as an athletic 6-foot-8 forward who made a strong early impression on the staff thanks to his physicality.

He flashed that same promise at North Florida in 2024-25 as the only freshman in Division I men’s basketball to record at least 400 points and 200 rebounds on 55.0% or better shooting. He averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds en route to making the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team.

Harris preserved a redshirt and will have three years of eligibility left wherever he lands.

Indiana opted out of postseason play after missing out on the NCAA Tournament as the fourth team out of the field. DeVries will now turn his attention to building out the team’s roster alongside Ryan Carr, his newly hired executive director of basketball.
