The Indy 500 Legends Day concert at White River State Park will not take place this year.
Amanda Stanley, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s communication director, said IMS holds the concert in conjunction with Live Nation and it was not added to the schedule of Legends Day events this year.
No acts had been announced, Stanley said.
“We work with Live Nation on that concert,” she said. “The elements just did not come together this year. We look forward to hopefully working with them in the future to host another concert at White River State Park.”
The Legends Day concert usually takes place at the park’s Everwise Amphitheater, 801 W. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis, the day before the Indy 500. It was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway until 2022 when it moved downtown.
The concert has featured country music acts such as the Zac Brown Band in 2019 and Midland which headlined last year. Typically the lineup was announced in March with Firestone as the title sponsor.
There was no announcement for the concert this year nor was there a sponsor associated with Legends Day, Stanley said. The concert was part of a long day of Saturday events, many of which take place at the track during the busy Memorial Day weekend.
Those festivities will go on as scheduled, Stanley said.
“We’re still out at the track. We have our full autograph session ― veterans autograph session,” she said, adding, “obviously the 500 festival parade will still be happening downtown. All those elements that people know and love about Legends Day are continuing.”
Race fans can meet and snag autographs from their favorite current and veteran drivers. For those still seeking a musical outlet, the Miller Lite Carb Day concert on Friday, May 22 will go on as planned.
The Grammy-award winning alternative rock groups Counting Crows will headline Carb Day. Switchfoot, another alt rock band, will also perform.
As usual, race day will also have a musical component. The Coors Light Snake Pit concert will feature the musical acts Zedd, Crankdat, Wooli, it’s murph and Wax Motif.
