Delta boys golf wins first Delaware County Championship since 2017

YORKTOWN — For the first time in nine years, Delta boys golf took home a county championship.

The Eagles shot a team score of 343 at Muncie Elks on Saturday, May 2, to claim their first Delaware County Championship since 2017. Lucky number seven proved unlucky for rival Yorktown, who came up seven strokes short with a 350 and saw their streak of seven consecutive county championships come to an end.

Delta coach David Bratton wasn’t surprised to see his Eagles holding the trophy at the end of the day.

“That’s a long time coming,” Bratton said. “I know we’ve been pretty close over the last couple years, had a lot of good players come through and been really close, and this group’s pretty special. I kind of had a feeling we had a chance to take over the county tournament this year, and we had to beat a really good Yorktown team to do it.”

On an experienced Delta team with three seniors and one junior, it was freshman Coltan Manor who emerged as the low medalist with a score of 83. Bratton highlighted Manor’s composure as a key to his early-career success.

“He’s a special kid,” Bratton said. “I always tell him it’s hard for me to tell how he’s playing from a distance. I never know if he’s hitting two under par or seven over par. He has a great mentality on the course, and he’s going to be a player to watch for years to come.”

Manor’s ability to rebound was on display during the back nine of the Elks. He had his worst hole of the day on the par-4 hole 16 with a quad bogey but immediately put that behind him and rallied with a birdie on the par-4 hole 17.

“The thing that was working was just bouncing back from bad holes,” Manor said. “You can’t be down on yourself. Just keep moving onto the next.”

In addition to Manor, three other Eagles earned all-county honors by placing in the top 10. Senior Matt Boyle placed sixth with an 86, while junior Griffin Wilson and senior Jeremiah Snyder each carded 87s to take seventh and eighth, respectively. Senior Lucas Bragg scored a 95 that did not count towards the team score but was good for an all-county honorable mention.

The top 10 lowest scorers received all-county honors, while 11 through 15 received honorable mentions. Here are the 2026 Delaware County all-county golfers and honorable mentions, as well as the full team scores:
