Data centers are making the rounds on social media, in daily conversations and on the campaign trail. What are they? How do they work? Why are they being built?
I’m Alysa Guffey, a business reporter at IndyStar. Come join me on Reddit to talk about the developments going up across Indiana.
Ask me anything
For the past year, I’ve reported on several data center projects for IndyStar by attending community meetings, protests and public hearings and speaking to economic development experts and developers on why they are trying to set up shop in Indiana. My focus has mainly been on Indianapolis-area developments, but at times, I have taken a broader look with help from my colleagues in Lafayette and South Bend.
As data centers continue to pop up and Indianapolis proposes new regulations, IndyStar is hosting an AMA on Thursday, April 23 at 3 p.m. to answer your questions about data center development and share the takeaways we’ve seen so far, primarily in the Indianapolis metro area.
What do you want to know? Drop your questions in the chat, and I’ll start answering them at 3 p.m. In the meantime, check out IndyStar’s data center coverage linked here.
There may be questions I can’t answer today, but our newsroom is actively working on several angles on data centers, including on economic incentives and environmental regulations. We’ll be sure to keep your lingering questions top of mind moving forward.
