I-65 southbound backed up near Frankfort as crews fix hole in bridge

FRANKFORT, IN — Southbound traffic on Interstate 65 around the Indiana 28/Frankfort exit is moving at a crawl Thursday afternoon, based on Indiana Department of Transportation cameras.

The reason is because of a hole in a bridge south of the intersection, which crews are repairing, according to a report by INDOT West Central District.

“INDOT maintenance crews are closing the right southbound lane on I-65 near State Road 28 (Exit 158) due to a hole in the bridge deck,” the report stated on Thursday afternoon. “Crews will be repairing the area to a safe condition and open the roadway when the area is fixed. Please use extra caution while workers are present.”

Alternative routes to avoid the traffic jam include using U.S. 52, which is designated as an alternative to I-65.
