It’s going to be hotter than usual in the Tri-State on Monday and Tuesday − even by summer standards.
Here’s what the National Weather Service is saying about the forecast.
Extreme heat warning in place Monday
The actual temperature in the Evansville/Henderson area on Monday is expected to reach 95 degrees. That’s hot all by itself. But the humidity is going to be downright oppressive, as well. The dewpoint could reach 80 degrees.
Combined, the heat and humidty will create a “feels like” temperature of up to 115 degrees on Monday, the National Weather Service said in its forecast.
It’s enough for the agency to issue an Extreme Heat Warning for most of the region that will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Central Time on Monday.
Heat advisory in effect on Tuesday
Things will be better on Tuesday, but it’ll still be uncomfortable outside. The high temperature on Tuesday is forecast to be 91 degrees, with high humidity creating a “feels like” temperature of up to 105 degrees.
Temperatures that are much more normal for this time of year will return for Wednesday through Friday, with daily highs in the middle 80s.
Severe weather possible on Monday
Storm chances aren’t high for Monday, but the National Weather Service says any storms that do pop up in the Tri-State could become severe. The agency has placed the Evansville and Henderson areas in a “slight risk” zone for severe weather potential.
The main concern is damaging winds.
