Here are the 2025 IHSAA girls soccer sectional pairings for Southwestern Indiana

EVANSVILLE — The postseason path for every Southwestern Indiana high school girls soccer team has arrived.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the sectional pairings for the upcoming state tournament on Sunday, Sept. 28. The first stage begins Tuesday, Oct. 7 with the championships scheduled for Oct. 11. The winners will advance to the regional the following week.

What did the blind draw bring us this year? Some brackets were obviously better than others, but no true gripes. One local field avoided a truly abhorrent path ― which is where we begin our thoughts with Class 3A at Castle.

The overarching point remains the same as last year: too many good teams here to make everyone happy in this format. It can be argued five of the seven had legitimate championship aspirations depending on the draw. No. 10 Memorial got a semifinal bye ― as it should by defeating every team in the sectional ― with a possible rematch coming against Jasper, whom the Tigers beat in penalty kicks on Aug. 28.

The only possible nitpicking comes in the other half of the bracket. No. 12 Castle vs. No. 14 North and Reitz vs. Harrison. The Knights and Huskies might have a complaint ― that’s a semifinal or even championship-level rematch after Castle won by penalty kicks on Sept. 2. To be fair, Reitz beat Castle and lost to North. Those results would matter too in determining who has the bigger protest.

All of this to say, get to Newburgh if you want to watch good soccer every night.

No true beef elsewhere around Southwestern Indiana. No. 4 Mater Dei avoids No. 18 Heritage Hills until a potential championship meeting in 2A at Mount Vernon. Same for No. 13 Washington and Gibson Southern in 2A at Gibson Southern. No. 9 Forest Park will be the favorite in the 1A at Forest Park. The other interesting potential championship could be Pike Central vs. No. 15 Evansville Christian in 1A at South Spencer.

Below are the full pairings for every sectional in Southwestern Indiana. A larger preview will come later this week.
