NEW CASTLE, IN — A Henry County man has been accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl.
Roy Allen Marsh, 60, of Knightstown, is charged in Henry Circuit Court 1 with child molesting, a Level 1 felony carrying up to 40 years in prison.
Marsh, arrested on Monday, June 22, was being held in the Henry County Jail under a $112,500 surety bond and a $100,000 cash bond.
The Knightstown man is also charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony with a maximum six-year sentence.
Court documents said photographs found on Marsh’s cell phone showed the child’s genitals, and that one of the photos showed the girl being sexually assaulted.
The police probe leading to Marsh’s arrest began in late May in Hancock County, where the victim lives. Investigators in that county alerted Henry County sheriff’s deputies after determining the assaults allegedly took place at Marsh’s home in Knightstown.
During the investigation, deputies encountered Marsh after a traffic stop in New Castle and seized his cell phone and took DNA samples.
The Knightstown man for a time was placed in a Hendricks County medical facility after he reportedly threatened to kill himself.
An affidavit included grim details of the sexual assaults provided by the child Marsh is charged with molesting. That document indicated the girl had repeatedly been left in Marsh’s care, sometimes for overnight visits.
It also indicated at least two other children had been interviewed about their dealings with the Knightstown man.
Marsh’s trial has been set for Oct. 26. Court records reflect no prior felony charges against the Henry County resident.
