Appalachian State hired Barrett as a men’s basketball assistant coach.

The former Lafayette Central Catholic and Purdue basketball product joins head coach Dusty Kerns, who enters his eighth season having finished .500 or better in each year, including a 2021 NCAA Tournament appearance.

After finishing with more than 1,600 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as a high school standout, Barrett walked on at Purdue and was a part of two Big Ten championship teams and a Big Ten Tournament championship, as well as a Final Four run in 2024.

Following that Final Four season, Barrett took on the role of breaking down film and scouting opponents as a graduate assistant under Matt Painter.
