Following multiple flash flood and severe weather warnings issued across east-central Indiana, flooding persists in Indianapolis on Aug. 2.
More than 2 inches of rain fell across the city Aug. 1, more than the total rainfall for all of July.
Marion County and other central Indiana communities experienced torrential downpours and flooding.
Parts of northern Indiana remain under a flood watch until 5 p.m. Aug. 2, including Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Following a tornado warning, Gen Con, which concludes Aug. 2, was briefly interrupted by minor flooding caused by a roof leak at the Indiana Convention Center.
“Gen Con has hit an iceberg,” the tabletop gaming organizer wrote in a social media post showing water gushing into the convention center. “If we don’t laugh, we might cry.”
Despite the downpour, the convention proceeded as scheduled for its final day.
