FBI investigation in Seymour, Indiana ends with 11 undocumented immigrants arrested

The FBI announced 11 undocumented immigrants were arrested in Seymour after a joint effort with ICE, the Seymour Police Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release, the FBI said the arrests were targeting individuals who have already been charged or convicted with various crimes or who had unlawfully entered the U.S.

Those crimes including narcotics trafficking, sexual battery, child molesting, domestic violence, strangulation and possession of numerous illegal weapons.

“This was not a sweep, nor did it involve schools or other sensitive locations,” said Seymour Police Department Chief Greg O’Brien. “The focus was solely on removing dangerous offenders to protect the safety of our residents.”

One person had previously been deported five times, the release said.

“Individuals who are unlawfully in this country and who commit violent crimes pose a serious threat to our communities,” said FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Timothy J. O’Malley. “Working with our federal and local partners and removing these individuals from our neighborhoods protects Hoosier families and reinforces our shared commitment to uphold the law.”
