INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time in the franchise’s history, the Colts are going to play an international game in back-to-back years.
Indianapolis will fly to London for an Oct. 4 matchup against Washington, the NFL announced on Wednesday morning, replacing a road trip with a trip across the pond to play the Commanders in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The trip will be the franchise’s first trip to London since a 2016 loss to Jacksonville.
The Colts played in Wembley Stadium the first time they made the trip to England. This time, they’ll play in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, another one of the United Kingdom’s legendary soccer stadiums.
What is interesting about this Colts trip to London is that the United Kingdom is not one of the countries where Indianapolis holds global marketing rights.
The Colts have rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a big reason why the last two international games Indianapolis has played have been in Germany. The Colts beat the Patriots in Frankfurt in 2023, and they beat the Falcons in overtime on a signature Jonathan Taylor performance in 2025.
Indianapolis lost its first trip overseas for a regular-season game, but Colts head coach Shane Steichen is 2-0 in his international trips. With one game off the board already, Indianapolis will get its full 2026 schedule at 8 p.m. Thursday in the NFL’s official schedule release.
