Between now and training camp, we will be going through the Indianapolis Colts’ full 90-man roster, previewing each player.
Up next is running back Jonathan Taylor, who wears No. 28.

Jonathan Taylor’s tenure with the Colts
Taylor was a second-round pick by the Colts in the 2020 NFL draft. He was taken 41st overall.
Recapping Jonathan Taylor’s 2025 season
Taylor played in all 17 games last season, the first time he’s done so since 2021. So it’s no surprise that Taylor was among the league’s most productive backs. He finished the season third in rushing yards and led the NFL in touchdowns.
That said, it was tough sledding for Taylor for much of the second-half of the year, especially after Daniel Jones went down. From Week 12 through 18, Taylor didn’t eclipse the 100-yard mark once as defenses frequently loaded the box without any fear of the Colts’ passing game being able to push the ball downfield.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Jonathan Taylor
We can again expect Taylor to shoulder the heavy workload at the running back position, just as he has done each year prior.
Taylor plays a vital role in the overall success of the offense. When the Colts can lean on Taylor, that keeps the offense ahead of the sticks and out of predictable passing situations. This, in turn, opens up the playbook for Steichen and the passing game for Jones. When Taylor is rolling, everyone benefits.
Also of note, Taylor is entering the final year of his current deal and is set to be a free agent in 2027.
