Durell Nchami’s tenure with the Colts
Nchami has been with the Colts since the 2024 season. He was signed to the practice squad in Nov. of that season after being waived by Denver. He has primarily been a practice squad player.
Recapping Durell Nchami’s 2025 season
Nchami appeared in three games as a practice squad elevation as the Colts were navigating injuries at defensive end. He played 33 defensive snaps, logging one quarterback pressure, along with another 16 snaps on special teams.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Durell Nchami
The Colts have their share of questions at defensive end entering training camp, but this is a crowded room for Nchami to navigate.
Laiatu Latu will lead the way, while Jaylahn Tuimoloau and Arden Key compete for the starting role opposite of him. Micheal Clemons likely fills a rotational role, while the Colts drafted Caden Curry and George Gumbs.
That’s already six players mentioned — not including UDFA Mitchell Melton, who has upside — at a position where teams typically roster five to six players at maximum. Nchami has experience compared to Curry and Gumbs — which is valuable — but those two are recent draft picks and are less likely to make it to the practice squad unclaimed than Nchami, which is a factor in the roster-building process.
