The Indianapolis Colts made it official, announcing that they have signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to the practice squad.
The corresponding move to make room for Hilton is that the Colts released wide receiver Tyler Scott.
Scott, a former fourth-round pick, was signed to the Colts’ practice squad after roster cutdowns.
In his first two NFL seasons with Chicago, he’s caught 18-of-32 targets for 173 yards. He had just one target in 2024. Scott also has return man experience.
The Hilton addition comes after Kenny Moore exited the Week 3 game with a calf injury. According to Ian Rapoport, Moore could miss a couple of weeks.
Hilton has experience in Lou Anarumo’s defensive scheme, having played under him in Cincinnati the last few seasons.
A nickel defender, Hilton has allowed a career completion rate of 70% over his eight NFL seasons, giving up just 9.9 yards per catch with 13 interceptions and 32 pass breakups, according to PFF.
We will see how big a role Hilton has early on. Mekhi Blackmon on the 53-man roster is also an option to fill in at the slot cornerback position.
